Communicate. Why do kids rebel? Because they feel they have no control, no independence and no choices about what happens in their life. So give it to them. How? Communicate with them, tell them what is going on, why things are happening the way they are. Years ago I lived in the Philippines for 15 months. For me those were fifteen months in which I never knew what was going on. I didn't speak the language I didn't know where I was going. I was taken from pillar to post never knowing why we were going from one place to another, never knowing why we had to do whatever it was we were doing, why we had to talk to whoever it was we had to talk to - I was totally out of control and I hated that! Well that is what we do to our kids every day. And I can totally relate to why they rebel because that is just what I did! Communication is the key. Tell them whets happening and why. Even if you don't think they'd get it, tell them anyway and let them ask questions. Even if they don't understand ever detail at least they will get why mum or dad are worried or excited or nervous or whatever. Again children are far more intelligent than we give them credit for. Let them be a part of what's happening and you will see the rebellion dissipate.
